I throw pots with textured stoneware clays and use a combination of brushed slip, carved marks and imprints. These elements merge with the movement of glaze during firing to give each piece its own particular character.

Making these vessels offers a pause in the busy day-to-day – they are small containers of quiet.

My interest in pottery stems from childhood time spent with family in Karatsu, a pottery town in Western Japan. I work from my home studio in Hackney, East London.
